The History of Donations to the Church

The Lych-Gate Light:

The light over the lych-gate was given by the Tate family in memory of Mrs Tate who died in 1976.

The Oak Porch Gates:

The oak porch gates were given in memory of Mrs Barbara Adams who died 28th April 1985.

The Credence Table:

This was given by Mr Bert Billingham in memory of his wife, Olive, who died 23rd April 1996.

The Wooden Bench:

The wooden bench overlooking the Garden of Rest was donated by Mr Leslie Burge in memory of his wife, Elizabeth Anne, who died in 2000. He also donated the water supply to the church.


Wedding Kneelers

The Tapestry Kneelers:

The kneelers were worked and donated by friends of St Mary's Church 1997-98.

The Clock:
The clock was a weekly winder until 1998 when it was electrified and the clock face restored by Mr and Mrs Castle.

The Ladder leading to the Tower:
Mr and Mrs Claydon presented the ladder leading to the tower as a golden wedding thanks offering in 1956.

Other donations:

Bookcase: Installed in memory of Mrs Edna Anne Panter (1915-2002) who left a legacy to the Church.

Altar linen: A present of altar linen was given to St Mary's by Elaine Jackson.

Candlesticks: A pair of tall wrought iron candlesticks was given to us by Chris Tate in 2009.

Pottery chalice, Paten & Baptismal Shell: Donated by The Rev'd John Hall.

Vestry Door: This was installed in 2011 thanks to the generous legacies left to the Church by the late Bertram (Bert) Billingham and his sister Gladys Oliver.
